I REALLY MISS #2 soooo, I redid him
and He’s now called Herman
And his story is not a depressing bunch of poop
Basically Dr Herman Ludwig was like your classic sadistic, eccentric and vindictive medic THEN ONE DAY AN EXPERIMENT WENT HORRIBLY WRONG (ok He just bumped his head when He was on leave) and He can’t remember anything about his former self so He’s basically a useless bunch of goofy goop. so He has to learn to be a medic allll over again.
Do you honestly see nothing wrong with making a character that’s essentially brain damaged so you can play around with “a useless bunch of goofy goop”? Like do you even realize that you literally just implied that people who are brain damaged are useless?
Should’ve kept the original backstory. Maybe you felt it needed tweaking but at least it wasn’t ableist.
No I didn’t mean to imply that. He’s just got memory loss. And as he is bow he is useless as a medic and will have to train all over again… Jesus Christ this website.
"Jesus Christ this website" actually, no, this is just me. Don’t turn this into something where you can accuse me of being brainwashed by some kind of made-up hivemind, because I’m not. This is me telling you that implying neuroatypical people are useless and turning them into something to be laughed at is offensive. If you want to plug your ears and stamp your feet and let your sycophants pat you on the back go ahead, but it’s not going to change anything.
Why is the TF2 fandom so wildly, consistently shitty on this sort of thing though for real.
I’m sorry, but no. You’re reading far too much into this. This Medic character took a bang to the head and forgot his ability to be a Medic. That also includes his sadistic nature. Which means he’ll have to learn all of it all over again. The medical training, the use of weaponry, the willingness to cut into somebody else with a bonesaw, etc. It’s not brain damage, it’s Amnesia. Huh, now that I think about it, isn’t there another game that has that? The character in that must be brain damaged too.
If you want to see somebody with possible psychological issues or brain damage, look at the Pyro. There’s a fitting case. But this is not.
What the fuck are you talking about? Did you somehow miss the entire point of this post?
This isn’t fucking amnesia. Amnesia is forgetting shit not becoming a completely different person. In every game involving amnesia the amnesia is NEVER portrayed like actual amnesia in the first place, and the amnesia usually only extend to removing plot-relevant memories, not complete changes in character that turn them into stupid bumbling comic relief. And if they do, yeah that’s still pretty shitty of them.
He hit his head and suddenly he’s this “goofy goop” who exists to be laughed at. Just like every other offensive “brain-damaged’ character in the media his mental state is turned into a huge joke because “ha ha look at the silly doofus that can’t do anything right!”
Fucking hell, I can’t even imagine the mental hoops you had to jump through to even come to this conclusion.
Let’s look into what Amnesia is.
Essentially, amnesia is loss of memory. The memory can be either wholly or partially lost due to the extent of damage that was caused. There are two main types of amnesia: retrograde amnesia and anterograde amnesia. Retrograde amnesia is the inability to retrieve information that was acquired before a particular date, usually the date of an accident or operation. In some cases the memory loss can extend back decades, while in others the person may lose only a few months of memory.
Amnesia isn’t becoming another person due to lost memories, it’s memory loss, plain and simple.
The second thing, this has been a media trope in cartoons/animation for quite a while. This isn’t new. Overused, yes. But nothing new.
Finally, this is a bloody fictional universe where the laws of physics hardly apply. This is a world where Australians beat the crap out of gorillas. In other words, it does not exist. If this were a real life situation, would this be tolerable? No. It would not, but we as humans have the capabilities to differentiate between fiction and reality.
So, if this person wants to have a character with amnesia that’s silly, they can.

humidifiers fill the air with water molecules from a source of water.
so what if someone filled a humidifier with holy water. would this essentially cleanse a room of all evil?
Either demons aren’t real, or demons are afraid because humans keep coming up with $40 solutions to demon problems.
